Summary: (From Amazon)
When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

K's Thoughts:
I decided to use the summary from Amazon, since it was almost verbatum for my own :) I absolutely LOVED this book. I must admit that I am a sucker for creative renditions of classic favorites and this brought me right back down the rabbit hole in a whole new and distorted adventure. I love the imagry and darker look at wonderland, seeing it through the eyes of a teenager rather then young child.

I thought the entire premise was so clever and well done. From Morpheus to Alyssa's mother (and the fact that women all have names derived from Alice) the characters were colorful and full of personality. I think its funny how many lead female characters these days have a goth/funky style sense- that dare to be different outlook in fashion.

I'd have to say that my only disappointment was the sexual content. No it wasn't horrible or graphic or anything like that- but it was enough for me to not feel comfortable passing this otherwise perfectly appropriate book over to my daughter. It was just a little too seductive, a little too aware for preteens and young teens.

My mind is still reeling from this adventure. I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a good YA fantasy adventure. When you read it, I would love to hear your thoughts too! Click on the picture above to get your copy from Amazon RIGHT WHEN IT COMES OUT! Seriously... its that good.

Parents/Content:
Language: Mild
Adult Content: Sexual tension, boy/girl crush, Lack of strong morals in main character. Kissing, hips pressed together- seductive dancing. Smoking, drinking, and drugs (Wonderland style).
Violence: Chasing, Fight scenes, sword play, magic and manipulation. Not overly graphic.
